Each Thursday, a wonderful group of diverse college-aged students on the spectrum gets together for a few hours.
During our meeting times, we work on social skills through role-play, social stories, and analyzing and working through real-life situations.
Lessons in independent living skills include learning to ride the city bus to destinations across the city and Henrico County. Making healthy lifestyle choices by grocery shopping and cooking as a group. Other lessons center around budgeting activities, self-advocacy skills, and much more.
Vocational skills activities include mock job interviews, filling out job applications, searching for jobs online, and more.
Finally, participants meet one Saturday per month for a social outing. Outings include movies, dinner, hikes, and bowling.
